The UNESCO Chair on Community Media was on a visit to Dhaka, Bangladesh to conduct the Community Radio Continuous Improvement Toolkit (CR-CIT) Peer Reviewers Workshop from May 11 – 13 2016. The collaborators and hosts for the event were the Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio & Communication – BNNRC. Supported by Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia – CEMCA.
Day 3 of the workshop involved Radio Bikrampur FM 99.2, located in Munshiganj, Dhaka, Bangladesh, where the team went through the self-assessment and peer review process using CR-CIT. The UNESCO Chair team met some inspirational community radio practitioners, including the 13-year old Sumi, belonging to the Bede community. The workshop which included participants from all 17 community radio stations in Bangladesh, concluded with the UNESCO Chair, Professor Vinod Pavarala handing out certificates to the participants on the successful completion of their training.
The team comprises of Prof. Vinod Pavarala, UNESCO Chair, with Faculty Fellows Dr. Kanchan K. Malik and Dr. Vasuki Belavadi, Associate Professors, Department of Communication, University of Hyderabad.
