The 6th National Sammelan of Operational Community Radio Stations was organized by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting from 18th March 2016 to 20th March 2016 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, in association with One World Foundation, India. The theme of this year’s Sammelan was “Community Radio in India: Towards Diversity and Sustainability”. Among other themes, issues concerning diversity, financial sustainability and initiatives by Central and State Governments etc. were discussed.
Apart from that an Exploratory Meeting for Community Radio Stations organized by the National Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science & Technology, Government of India in collaboration with Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia – CEMCA at the Indian National Science Academy.
Dr. Kanchan Kumar Malilk, Associate Professor, Department of Communication, University of Hyderabad and Faculty Fellow, UNESCO Chair on Community Media and Naveen Sen, Radio Coordinator, Bol Hyderabad represented the Department and the Chair.
