Sunil Abraham (Ashoka Fellow) and Executive Director, Centre for Internet & Society, Bangalore will deliver the Dr. CVS Sarma Memorial Lecture on September 04, 2015. Sunil Abraham will speak on ‘Freedom Continuum: From Access to Knowledge to Piracy’.
Sunil Abraham who is the executive director, CIS, is also the founder and director of Mahiti, a 17 year old social enterprise that aims to reduce the cost and complexity of ICTs for the voluntary sector by using free software. Starting 2004, for 3 years, Sunil also managed the International Open Source Network, a project of UNDP’s APDIP, serving 42 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Sunil currently serves on the advisory boards of OSF – Information Programme, Mahiti, Samvada and ICFOSS.
The Lecture is an annual feature organized by the Department of Communication, University of Hyderabad, in memory of Prof C V S Sarma, one of the founding members of the department. Dr. Sarma was known for his innovative approaches to teaching visual aspects of communication and scriptwriting.
