Dinesh C Sharma is an award-winning journalist and author with over 30 years’ experience of reporting on science, technology, innovation, medicine and environment related issues for national and international media outlets.
Currently, his columns appear in Mail Today, , , DNA and Metro India. In addition, he writes for The Lancet group of journals and other international publications. He is also a contributing author for the Ecological Society of America.
He is an invited speaker at conferences on media, science-society interface, information technology development, ICT for development and health policy issues, besides being guest faculty at leading media training centres. He has spoken at the Yale University, Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, University of Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University and the Observer Research Foundation.
His journalism experience includes covering events like satellite launches, medical and scientific breakthroughs, scientific controversies like GM food and nuclear energy, climate change negotiations. In June 2008, had the privilege of becoming the first Asian journalist to go to the Arctic to report on an ongoing international scientific expedition relating to climate change. He has covered several climate change conference, beginning with the UN Conference on Environment and Development at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1992.
