> Admissions are normally notified in all major newspapers all over the country. You can also visit the university website for details.
- Who can apply for the Ph.D Programme?
> The Ph.D programme is open to all MA (Mass Communication & Journalism, Communication & MCJ) graduates with NET (JRF) qualification. The full-time programme requires students to stay on the campus and complete their research within five years. Part-time students, who are residents of Hyderabad-Secunderabad need to produce a residence certificate.
- What is the duration of the Ph.D Programme?
> Five years. The department normally doesn’t encourage you to extend the time limit unless the reasons are beyond your control.
- What am I expected to do during the Ph.D programme?
> Simple. Concentrate on your Ph.D! Keep in regular touch with your guide. You will be required to complete a 12-credit mandatory course work spread over two semesters before you take up actual research on Ph.D. You will be expected to report your progress to a Doctoral Review Committee once every semester. The DRC certifies your progress. Besides pursuing your own research, you get opportunities to involve yourself in cutting-edge research being conducted by faculty members. This gives you rich experience. You may also be asked to handle a few classes of the core courses, help faculty members with co-ordinating their classroom sessions, events etc.
- What facilities does the department offer in terms of library etc?
> Check out the Facilities page for an overview.The university library is well-stacked. However, if you need a book that isn’t in the library, the department will recommend it immediately. Faculty members also share their reading material with research scholars.
- Are there hostel facilities?
> Yes, but limited. Be prepared to make your own arrangements in case you don’t get hostel accommodation. Please check the university website for more details. Your stay in the hostel is limited to the duration of the programme (5 yrs) only.
